Jamie has recently set up this workshop, designing and making Bespoke furniture, Accessories and Artwork. He encourages using old stocks of wood from garages and sheds around the county that would otherwise go into skips, be burnt or left to rot. Then each piece of work is designed to be made from the collection of stock.
He has a collection of woodworking tools, bought from flee markets and individuals, repairs and makes some of the tools for sale and personal use.
With an interest in working with wood from an early age, Jamie spent the first years of his career making furniture and structural pieces for churches around the West Midlands. Then as a joiner in a local boat yard, where he worked in furniture making, then boat fit out, and in the last 10 years, Design and Engineering Departments, assisting develop the exterior and interiors to ensure ease of build and quality.
Jamie has a long and respected track record in the restoration of period furniture. This work has included; antique staircases to period chairs, tables and jewellery boxes. More recently Jamie has turned his skills to the renovation and repair of Volkswagen Camper Van interiors and accessories.
Back in 1991 Jamie left work to obtain City & Guilds certificates in Furniture Making and Restoration. The following year a number of his pieces were entered into The National Woodworker Show, and won a Bronze medal and two Highly Commended honours. These pieces can be seen in his workshop.
