Jo graduated from West Surrey College of Art & Design in 1985 and after spending a short time working in a small glass studio, went on to work in Higher Education, teaching all aspects of kiln-formed glass. Late 2010 saw a transition from education to fulltime professional studio practice which involves her in:
- Designing and making one off pieces for exhibitions
- Running workshops and teaching
- Participating in collaborative projects
Her recent series of drawings and prints try to capture the rhythm and spirit of landscapes. This has led her to a fresh approach to working with glass which is more spontaneous and less constrained by process. Working with layers of fine coloured glass powders she has begun to build subtle surfaces which are enhanced by the inherent luminosity of the glass.
