An evening of discovery and introduction to Japanese culture and music.
Pioneering Okeanos Ensemble present traditional Japanese music including works by Yatsuhashi Kengyo, Michio Miyagi and contemporary works specially written for the ensemble by Mai Fukasawa, Akiko Ogawa and Howard Skempton. Music for sho, koto & shakuhachi together with western instruments create an original and compelling sound world. Between the music Japanese eurythmist Tomie Ando will interpret haiku and contemporary Japanese poetry.
